VOLUNTEERING
PETS AS THERAPY Has over 3,500 dogs and 100 cats, each with their registered owners, who volunteer to visit many different establishments e.g. schools, hospitals, nursing homes and work with those who have suffered strokes or have animal phobias. The organisation are looking for more volunteers to help with its activities as it has been established that these visits bring comfort, companionship and therapy to clients, who may be suffering debilitating illnesses. Anyone who may be interested will need their pet to pass an assessment to show if it is temperamentally suitable, this test is carried out by one of our qualified assessors and when passed assistance is given to find the volunteer an establishment to visit.

Volunteers need to be sixteen plus and be patient, considerate, non-judgemental, tolerant, have good communication skills and enjoy assisting young people achieve their potential. This will be a great opportunity for people looking to gain the experience and skills necessary to access a career in teaching or social work.
