OPEN HOUSE AT ETEC!
ETEC is opening its doors this Easter to show teenagers what’s on offer when they leave school.
And potential learners could even be in line to earn an extra £20 if they refer a friend, who enrols on ETEC’s E2E training programme.
The open day on Thursday 8 April 2009 will give young people and carers the chance to find out what ETEC has to offer in terms of work-based learning.
Julie Dyos, ETEC’s Operations Director, said: “We are hoping for a bumper turn-out at this year’s event.
“Hopefully the event will enable teenagers to signpost, where they want to go and what they want to do when they leave school.
“We are even offering incentives to young people, who wish to refer a friend to ETEC.”
Visitors can tour ETEC premises, talk to members of staff and see the company’s training facilities in action. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
Interviews for potential learners, who want to join ETEC, will take place during the day.
ETEC offers training for school leavers via its Entry to Employment (E2E) and apprenticeship programmes in a range of areas including:

About Children's Centres
In 1999 the Government announced a radical new programme – Sure Start. Aimed at Children under five and their families, a number of programmes were set up in various parts of the country. The programme was later expanded to include childcare for children up to 14 and to 16 for those with disabilities and special needs.
The programme aimed to improve the lives of every child, young person and family in Sunderland. To successfully achieve this vision the programme brought together the council's responsibilities for education, healthcare support and social services for children, young people and their families.
The programme for children under 5 is now known as Children’s Centres. The programme helps give children the best possible start in life by offering a range of activities and support services from Children’s Centres throughout the city.
There are a number of Children’s Centres across Sunderland each providing a wide range of activities and support services for parents and their children.
Who are they for?
Children’s Centres provide a range of services for children and parents across Sunderland.
The service is available from the first antenatal visit – providing advice on health in pregnancy, decisions about returning to work, advice on childcare options and on the support services available. Once a child is born, Children’s Centres provide high quality services to support the children and their parents in all aspects of family life and personal development.
