Sunderland South Forum Monthly Meeting (AGM)
Is to be held
Wednesday 16th September 2009
St Chad's Church Hall, Charter Drive, Sunderland, SR3 3PG
1.00pm start (12.30pm Buffet)
We are having a short section of entertainment called Culture Shock stories introduced by Samantha Beltcher from Tyne & Wear Museums. Culture Shock is a project to create 1000 digital stories about life in the North East. Each story is created by a member of the community and inspired by a museum object. The stories are a collection of still images set to audio and last around 2-3 mins each. The stories come from all over the region but there are some great ones specific to Sunderland i.e. Ship Building.
Please click here to download the papers for the AGM
If you are unable to attend to attend the meeting on the 16th September but would like to express an interest contact me via email lorna@southforum.org.uk or on 0191 522 8447.
Did you know that you can become a member of the South Forum as an individual, a worker or as a representative of a group?
Why should you join the South Forum?
We can offer you the opportunity to share good practice and experience. We can also offer you the opportunity to build positive relationships with other South Forum members. There is a good mix of attendees from the statutory, voluntary and community sectors as well as individuals. This provides an effective forum for networking and information sharing. South Forum members are able to promote their group or service and meet informally with others.
Everyone is welcome to attend our monthly meetings so please come along.

Education Business Connections
Programme Outline
EBC has been working with key partners including NECA, NERAF and Norcare to develop a programme which provides clients supported by those organisations with opportunities to take part in activities which will help to develop a range of key employability and social skills.
Activities have been designed to provide fun-based, hands-on learning and skills development which will complement the vital support they already get from our partner organisations such as yours.
Essential Steps to Employability has been developed in partnership between EBC and senior managers the key organisations in the city supporting clients with issues around homelessness, substance and alcohol misuse. In recent months we have worked with clients from these organisations to ‘trial’ some of the activities not built into Essential Steps to Employability
Essential Steps to Employability offers a wide range of activities from two days of activities to longer term programmes providing the opportunity to your clients to secure accredited qualifications. Delivery of all programmes is flexible - to meet the needs of your clients and we are relying upon you to give us your expert guidance.
All activities are designed to develop key employability skills in the most vulnerable people you work with - required both by employers and in day-to-day living.
Equally importantly they have the chance to succeed and shine, interact socially, draw upon their life experiences in a positive way and to regain their feeling of self worth through positive achievements in a non-threatening setting.
The leaflet attached shows the brief outlines of the different activities developed to be delivered to our partners’ clients through Essential Steps to Employability.
Please see the attached information sheet on courses offered.
Essential Steps to Employability is funded by Sunderland City Council through the Working Neighbourhoods Fund
