Age Concern Sunderland
Good Neighbour Project
This is a new project launched in November 2008, in which the Good Neighbour Co-ordinator, Adrienne Rowly wants to get the people of Sunderland talking to their neighbours. It’s not just for older people, but across the generations especially the age group that goes out to work first thing in the morning and doesn’t return home until late evening. Following on from this, she hopes to set up a Good Neighbour team of volunteers that could take on the small tasks that neighbours used to do or are unable to do now due to work commitments, age or disability etc.
For more information please contact Adrienne Rowly on 0191 514 1131 or via email on Adriennerowly@sunderland.org.uk
Sunderland CVS and SCN
Consultant, Audra Peacock on behalf of Sunderland CVS and SCN is researching the social and economic value of the voluntary and community sector.
Groups can help us to understand the value of the voluntary and community sector in Sunderland by completing the questionnaire, which can be downloaded from http://www.sunderlandcvs.co.uk/
The questionnaire is so important that the prize draw fund for completion of the questionnaire is now £300.
For more information or to get involved please contact Audra on 0191 565 1566 or email audra.peacock@sunderlandcvs.co.uk Take the Lead programme delivered by Skillshare North East Ltd - Reminder
'Take the Lead' is a seven session programme delivered over 7 weeks (one full day a week). The programme aims to introduce participants to the local, regional and national structures that impact on their lives and encourage participants to make use of mechanisms to influence decision making at all levels.
We are looking for people who are just starting to get involved in community action/representation, those who maybe need a little more confidence and more information about how things work and fit together in order to get the best out of their participation.
Content of the programme (which leads to a locally accredited level 1 qualification through Open College Network) includes:
The cost per person is usually £830 but we have funding to provide full bursaries from the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership.
The training will take place at ETEC in Hendon, apart from the regional visit when we will be taking participants to Government Office in Newcastle.
If you think this is something you may find an interest for from the groups you work with and would like us to come and discuss it further with you, please do not hesitate to contact either Diane Stephens or Allison Porritt on 01429 868 353.
